Where the story began

Rooted in Zimbabwe

Manny grew up in Zimbabwe, surrounded by the landscapes, communities and cultural variety of southern Africa. From an early age, he understood that people can share a place while carrying very different histories, expectations and ways of making sense of the world.

Those early experiences shaped his curiosity about people and later became the foundation for his work in cultural inclusion.

Lessons from the road

More than a decade leading safari expeditions

For over a decade, Manny worked as an overland safari expedition leader, travelling throughout Africa and managing large international groups on long-distance camping safaris.

These were immersive journeys that brought together travellers from many parts of the world. For days and weeks at a time, people shared vehicles, meals, campsites, unfamiliar environments and the inevitable challenges of life on the road.

Leading these groups required far more than logistics. Manny had to understand different communication styles, expectations, comfort levels and approaches to time, privacy, conflict and cooperation. A successful journey depended on helping individuals feel heard while building trust and cohesion across the whole group.

That experience made one lesson unmistakable:

Every person sees the world through a cultural lens—and those lenses can shape the meaning we give to the very same moment.

Cultural competence was not an abstract idea. It was a practical leadership skill that helped diverse groups travel, solve problems and succeed together.

A new chapter

Coaching and community work in Canada

After moving to Canada more than sixteen years ago, Manny continued working alongside people navigating change and new possibilities.

He has worked as a youth mentor, life coach, entrepreneurship coach and employment coach, specializing in supporting newcomers through the settlement journey and the work of building new careers in Canada.

That frontline experience deepened his understanding of the barriers newcomers and racialized professionals can face—and of the practical difference culturally responsive support can make.

The work today

Helping workplaces turn inclusion into everyday experience

Today, Manny brings these experiences together through Inclusion and Co., helping organizations foster cultural inclusion and belonging.

It is work he is deeply passionate about because inclusion is not achieved through good intentions alone. It grows when people become more curious, more culturally competent and more intentional about how their decisions and behaviours are experienced by others.

His approach is practical, human and grounded in the belief that people can learn to work across difference without losing sight of their shared humanity.
